5 Cancer Facts That You Should Know
October 14, 2014 Detoxify Bar

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. The rough statistics say one in eight women will battle breast cancer at some point but it is great to know that many will survive breast cancer knowing these facts:

1. Cancer is genetics but can be prevented by a healthy lifestyle.

Maintaining a healthy weight may lower the risk of various types of cancer, including cancer of the breast, prostate, lung, colon and kidney.

Physical activity counts! Physical activity on its own might lower the risk of breast cancer and colon cancer. Adults who engage in physical activity gain some health benefits.

General goal: include at least 30 minutes of physical activity in your daily routine. Can you do more?

2. Raw food such as fresh veggies and fruits are cancer-fighting foods.

Researchers put a lot of effort in cancer research, and we have to thank them for that. For the common consumer in us, something that we can control is diet. Diet in a perspective: we are aware of the food we take into our bodies. When it comes to a diet rich in cancer-fighting substances, most experts agree that it should consist of a predominantly plant-based diet.

Just a thought: What if these plant-based meals were juiced? You get our point and you know where to find us.

3. Women age 40 and older should have screening mammograms to find cancer early.

Regular checkups with your doctor is worthwhile. Take advantage of your company’s annual free checkup (if you have the benefit). After all, there are great reasons why you should. Company benefits like that aren’t there to satisfy company records, they are after your own good. Use it!

Remember: breast cancer is survivable if detected early!

4. Men rarely consider breast cancer a possibility.

Breast cancer isn’t just a woman’s struggle. Though the numbers are low, men could get it too. Usually, men delay seeking treatment and get diagnosed in the late stage of the disease. Living the healthy lifestyle is not a call for women only.

Call to action: for men to join their partners in the rally to being healthy.

5. Prevention is better than cure.

We probably hear this a lot from our family doctors–because it is true and always will. This is the reason why our mantra is EAT DRINK DETOX LOVE. Nothing beats getting it into your system. Detox and diet is where DetoxifyBar can help–our primary reason for existence. Exercise and repeating the process is up to you!
